LEARN TO BE

Acton Academy was founded in 2009 by Jeff and Laura Sandefer in Austin Texas. This parent run accredited private school model is exploding across the USA, Canada, and Central America. Anna and Chris Biad, founders of Acton Academy Las Cruces, chose to open an Acton Academy to provide a rich learning environment for their five children and other likeminded families. The Acton mission is to inspire each child and parent who enters our doors to find a calling that will change the world. The theme underscoring the curriculum is heroes and callings. Students will embark on a hero’s journey to discover the unique contributions that they can make to live a life of meaning and purpose. Curriculum focuses on developing character, fostering appreciation for liberty, and stoking student’s curiosity. Acton students are encouraged to become lifelong independent learners.
Our Promise to Your Child
He or she will:
- Begin a Hero’s Journey
- Learn to be a curious, independent, lifelong learner.
- Develop a deep respect for economic, political and religious freedoms.
- Cherish the arts, wonders of the physical world and the mysteries of life on Earth.
- Discover his or her most precious gifts and learn to use them to solve difficult problems.
The oldest, and still the most powerful, teaching tactic for fostering critical thinking is Socratic teaching.
At Acton Academy Las Cruces, the only daily, on-going responsibility given the children outside school hours is to read.
