In the mornings, Eagles work primarily on core skills of reading, writing, and math. The day begins with a morning launch that includes a Socratic discussion within the Discovery Studio. Circle time begins the day for the Exploration Studio where topics like being a good friend and citizen, reuse and recycle, and being on a hero’s journey is discussed. Exercise occurs daily and includes tennis, soccer, obstacle courses, basketball, running, and other activities the Eagles wish to pursue. The afternoons include Spanish class, music, art, and quests. Quests are project based learning opportunities where students apply core skills to real world projects. Quests include launching a business, rocket engineering, detective/forensic science, theater, sewing, carpentry, gardening, and Lego Robotics are included in the hands-on projects. Individually, they will work with the Guides and fellow Eagles to discover and develop their unique talents and passions.
This is fundamentally different than traditional schooling today. No bells ringing every 50 minutes. No lecturing. No one-size-fits-all approach. Just student-driven learning. By the time they reach high school age, our students will be expected to spend 30-50% of their time off campus doing internships, volunteering, starting their own business and chasing their dreams.
We are committed to creating a peaceful and productive learning environment. We will be following a 11 -month calendar that allows for our students to have extended rests throughout the year and maintains their interests and progress by shortening the summer break.
